The second, a more policy-oriented book, brought in $2.3 million for the president and his family. In 2008, the books together earned them $2.6 million. As president, Obama collected a salary of $400,000, an amount that reflects an increase that took effect in 2001.

Its sad that someone like The Rock is worth 8 times The President of the United States. This is the toughest, most prestigious and serious job in our country. The commander and chief. Our society has our priorities mixed up. 10.5 million is a lot of money, but he deserves The Rocks kind of money and The Rock deserves the Presidents $400,000 a year.

  People like the Rock earned their money based on the sales of their product. You have a choice whether or not you want to buy that product, and clearly there are many people who like his product.
  
  You have no choice when Washington decides to raise their income, provide themselves with a retirement plan separate from social security, and put themselves on a different healthcare plan than the one they sold you. When they do this, there is no choice, you have to pay it. You do realize that every dime we pay in income and benefits to these people is from tax-payer money.
  
  The job of our elected representatives are to represent and serve the people and our country. They should feel honored to have won the vote of their constituents, and not entitled to receive special compensation for it. They should not be getting rich as public officials, but many of them have.
  
  I for one do not want to give those people another dime for the poor job they have done for the people of this country. I actually think their benefits should be reduced. But you know what…if you think they deserve more, perhaps you should send them a check. But keep your grubby hands out of my pocket book thank you very much.
  
  I don’t know if you realize this, but the president has increased his net worth by 10-fold in the past 4 years, and I’ll guarantee this is not due to book sales. We should actually be doing something to decrease what these people receive, not trying to extort more money from the people to pay them more. I say if you think he deserves to be paid more, send him a check, but stay out of my purse.
