Apple confirmed the resolution of the cameras on the iPad 2 are VGA (on the front) and 720p resolution (on the back). The iPad’s screen is also 1024×768—same as the original iPad. The several Apple reps that we spoke with in the briefing area were not willing to give up details about how much RAM the device has; one representative said that those details “aren’t important” and that the company would rather keep that under wraps to focus attention on the new A5 processor instead.

GarageBand allows for audio recording and editing, and also features a selection of virtual instruments that users can play and create with.

10. Even with its new features, Apple claims that the iPad 2 will feature the same 10-hour battery life as its predecessor. In addition, the system should last for up to a month on standby.

11. New line of magnetic cases will be available for the iPad 2′s slimmer build. The cases put the device to sleep when closed and wake the device up when opened. The smart cases come in a variety of colors in either polyurethane ($39) and leather ($69).

12. iPad 2 units will be available in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB configurations. Pricing starts at $499 for 16GB WiFi-only models and range up to $829 for a fully-loaded model.
