10. William Bradford Bishop, Jr.
Among fugitives on the FBI’s Most Wanted list is William Bradford Bishop, Jr., wanted for fleeing prosecution and allegedly bludgeoning his wife, mother, and three sons to death in 1976. He allegedly killed them in Bethesda, Maryland, before burying their bodies in shallow graves and lighting them on fire in Columbia, North Carolina. Bishop is a former United States Foreign Service officer.
9. Jason Derek Brown
Topping the FBI’s Most Wanted list now that alleged bank robber Myloh Jaqory Mason’s been captured is Jason Derek Brown. He allegedly shot and killed an armored car guard then fled with the money outside a movie theater in Phoenix, Arizona, in 2004. There is a reward up to $200,000 for information that leads to his arrest on charges of first-degree murder and armed robbery.
8. Joanne Deborah Chesimard
Joanne Deborah Chesimard, also known as Assata Shakur, became the first woman added to the FBI’s Most Wanted Terrorists list in 2013. Chesimard, part of the Black Liberation Army in the United States, escaped prison where she was being held for killing a New Jersey state trooper and injuring another. Authorities believe she moved to Cuba after the 1979 escape and remains in Havana. She remains one of the most wanted criminals in the world, but it’s unlikely Cuba will extradite her if she is there.
7. Juan Jose Esparragoza-Moreno
Former police detective Juan Jose Esparragoza-Moreno, known as “El Azul,” became known for keeping the peace between rival drug cartels. He is a known associate of drug kingpins Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman and Ismael Zambada Garcia. Federal authorities believe he may have gotten plastic surgery to change his appearance and avoid capture.
6. Ismael Zambada Garcia
Drug kingpin Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman is again in custody after escaping from a Mexican prison through an elaborate tunnel system. The search is on for Ismael Zambada Garcia, alias “El Mayo,” who took over the Sinaloa Cartel after Guzman’s 2014 arrest. “Zambada-Garcia is an extremely dangerous criminal whose narcotic activities are legendary,” DEA Acting Special Agent in Charge Anthony Coulson stated in a Drug Enforcement Agency announced a reward up to $5 million posted in 2004. The reward hasn’t managed to lead to El Mayo’s arrest as he becomes one of the most wanted criminals in the world.
5. Joseph Kony
Joseph Kony’s Lord’s Resistance Army in northern Uganda allegedly kidnapped thousands of young men and women throughout northern Uganda, forcing many to kill their family members or friends. The International Criminal Court issued a warrant for Kony’s arrest for war crimes and crimes against humanity including rape, murder and enslavement. Kony allegedly is seeking to take over Uganda’s government and install a new government focused around the Bible’s 10 Commandments.
4. Sylvestre Mudacumura
The International Criminal Court also issued a warrant for the arrest of Sylvestre Mudacumura, the military commander of the Democratic Forces for the Liberation of Rwanda. He’s wanted for alleged war crimes in eastern Congo including murder, mutilation, rape, torture and pillaging. Fighters under his control allegedly have killed at least 94 civilians and raped dozens of women and girls. A school director who gave information about FDLR to the government was allegedly killed along with his teenage son, their heads later found cut off and placed on sticks.
3. Abdelkarim Hussein Mohamad Al-Nassar
Among the most wanted criminals in the world is Abdelkarim Hussein Mohamed Al-Nasser, fourth on the FBI’s most wanted terrorists list. Al-Nasser allegedly leads terrorist organization Saudi Hizballah and is wanted for the 1996 bombing of the Khobar Towers military housing complex in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia.
2. Ayman al-Zawahiri
Formerly an Egyptian doctor, Ayman al-Zawahiri now leads the terrorist organization al Qaeda and is among the top most wanted criminals in the world. His Egyptian Islamic Jihad merged with al Qaeda when it was under the leadership of Osama bin Laden. He is wanted for the deaths of 62 tourists in Egypt and believed to be connected for 1998 bombings of U.S. embassies in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, and Nairobi, Kenya.
1. Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi
The international search for Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi is on as the battle against the Islamic State of Iraq terrorist organization remains in the headlines. Baghdadi allegedly oversees all ISIS operations and he’s taken credit for deadly attacks carried out in Iraq including the March 2013 suicide bombing on the Iraq Ministry of Justice, which killed at least 20 people. Al-Baghdadi made it to the FBI’s Most Wanted Terrorists list in 2011, before ISIS was formed. While ISIS is based in Syria, al Baghdadi’s whereabouts remain unknown. Secretary of State John Kerry’s authorized a $10 million reward for information leading to his capture.
